Ad Design Resizing: Keeping the Message Clear Across Formats
An advertisement that works as a tall poster may become crowded in a square social post. Adapting the layout is a design task, not simply a matter of shrinking the same file. A planned set of versions keeps the offer, brand and next step clear in each format.
List the destinations before adapting the artwork
Collect the current dimensions and delivery specifications from each platform or production supplier. Separate printed items from digital placements, and note where interface elements may cover part of the design. Identify versions that need different wording or a different contact route. Keep this list with the brief so a missing size is not discovered at the end.
Protect the most important information
Agree on the main message, supporting detail and call to action. Keep the logo recognisable and the contact information readable at the intended viewing size. A smaller placement may need shorter approved copy rather than smaller lettering. Check Arabic and English independently when both are included; connected Arabic letters should not be stretched or spaced apart to force a fit.
Recompose images rather than crop blindly
Review the subject before choosing a crop. A face, product label or important illustration may be lost when a tall design becomes wide. Move elements where the artwork permits, or choose an approved alternative photograph. Ensure that image changes do not imply a different product or offer. Compare versions side by side for consistent colours and visual hierarchy.
Approve and name each final version
Review each exported file at realistic size, including a phone screen for mobile placements. Test any link or QR destination separately. Distinguish master files from approved exports, and use names that identify the campaign and format. Record the final wording and dates so an older version is not posted after the offer changes. Keep editable files for future revisions.
