QR Counter Displays: Placement and Testing Before Production
A QR display connects a physical counter with a useful online destination, but a printed square is only one part of the experience. Before producing acrylic stands for a shop, reception desk or exhibition, decide what visitors should reach and test the complete interaction in the intended setting.
Give the display one clear purpose
Choose a destination that matches the visitor’s immediate need: a menu, service enquiry, company introduction or contact page. Avoid asking people to scan without explaining the benefit. Use a short label such as “View our services” and verify that the page opens on a phone without unnecessary steps. If the destination contains personal contact details, confirm who owns and maintains those details before printing.
Review the stand in its actual position
Place a sample where a visitor can notice it and comfortably point a phone at it. Check the relationship between the code, lighting and transparent material. Reflections, nearby promotional items and objects behind a clear stand may affect visibility. Leave enough space around the code and review the design at its final printed size. Do not judge a counter display only from an enlarged artwork preview.
Test the printed sample and the destination
Scan a physical sample with more than one phone and from normal holding positions. Test under the lighting expected at the counter, including reflections from windows or overhead fixtures. Check the destination address, page loading and the next action after opening. Keep a readable alternative, such as a short website address, for visitors who cannot or prefer not to scan. A successful test on a screen is not approval of the printed piece.
Plan updates and a named owner
Keep the approved destination, artwork version and sample record together. Decide who will check the link when opening hours, menus or contact details change. If a managed redirect is used, make sure the business controls it and understands any service costs. Review the physical stand periodically for damage and readability. Agree replacement responsibilities before ordering a large quantity.
