Caring for Acrylic Displays: What to Include in the Handover
An acrylic display can present products or information neatly, but its appearance depends on how it is handled after delivery. A care handover should explain the actual material, finish and construction used. Advice for one display should not be assumed to suit every acrylic product.
Identify the materials and finishes
Ask for a simple record of the material, printed graphics, adhesive components and any surface finishes. A clear panel, a printed panel and an assembled display may need different treatment. Keep the supplier’s approved care instructions with the product. If the display contains lighting, metal fixings or another material, include the relevant instructions and explain which parts users may remove.
Agree on a cleaning method
Do not use an unfamiliar cleaning chemical simply because it works on glass. Confirm an appropriate cleaner and cloth with the fabricator or material supplier. Ask how to remove dust and fingerprints without applying unnecessary pressure. Any proposed test should be performed in a suitable inconspicuous area and follow the supplier’s guidance. Avoid promising that a surface is scratch-proof or compatible with all disinfectants.
Explain handling and placement
Show staff how to lift the display using its intended support points rather than pulling on delicate letters, corners or attached graphics. Agree where it will stand and whether it is suitable for the light, temperature and handling conditions there. If it needs anchoring, use the approved arrangement. Keep it away from situations outside its specified use and make clear how it should be packed during relocation.
Document maintenance responsibilities
Include photographs of the completed item and note removable parts, replacement graphics and the contact for reporting damage. Staff should know when to stop using an unstable display rather than attempting an improvised repair. For a repeated order, retain the original dimensions and artwork reference. This makes future replacements easier to discuss without assuming that the specification has stayed unchanged.
